Regional Outreach

Specialist Injury & Pain Management

We understand the barriers to accessing and receiving healthcare in rural areas - lack of Specialists, availability for appointments, wait times for appointments, and the cost associated with attending appointments in Melbourne.

We now offer a Rural Outreach service, attending regional Victorian areas monthly.

Dr Alicia Rayner FACP grew up in a town of 400 people in rural Western Australia. There was one GP for 100 kilometres, with the local radiology clinic providing x-rays 200km away.

The ambulance was staffed by volunteer ambulance officers, and emergencies required Royal Flying Doctor Service to fly patients to Perth for medical care.

We understand the barriers associated with rural healthcare.

Our goal is to provide Specialist Physiotherapy to those in regional areas, reducing the barriers to accessing the correct diagnosis and treatment.

We work with the local medical and allied health professionals to ensure the patient receives the best outcomes, no matter where they live.

We provide Specialist second opinions, at the request of the patient or treating practitioner (doctor, physiotherapist, psychologist etc). This may be regarding the diagnosis, management or if additional clinicians are required (for example, referral to a psychologist, surgeon, neurologist etc).

We can provide one-off reviews of their case, and provide a plan for the current clinician, or we may continue treating the patient alongside their current therapist/s.

Treating practitioners are invited and encouraged to attend the appointment to promote communication & easier clarification. This allows us to build a collaborative plan with the patient and therapists, to ensure we have the best treatment going forward forward.

As we care about outcomes, we often provide a follow-up review (usually 2-8 weeks after the initial consultation) to optimise integration of management strategies.
